SVT CELEBRATES PERFORMANCE WITH 10th ANNIVERSARY COBRA
Marking 10 years as the leader in factory performance vehicles, the Ford Special Vehicle Team unveiled a 10th Anniversary Package SVT Mustang Cobra at the 2002 SEMA show in Las Vegas. Together with the European Appearance Package SVT Focus, SVT will have two special edition vehicles on the market for 2003 to coincide with Ford's own Centennial celebration.
“SVT is celebrating its 10th year in the performance vehicle business,” said Mike Zevalkink, director of the Ford Performance Group. “What better way to commemorate the anniversary than to share with our customers special edition vehicles?”
The Ford Special Vehicle Team was established in 1991 to create low-volume, factory-produced vehicles that live up to the group's hallmarks of performance, substance, exclusivity, and value. It began production of the SVT Mustang Cobra in 1993, which over the past 10 years has accounted for some 60 percent of the more than 100,000 SVT vehicles produced to date.
The 10th Anniversary Edition SVT Mustang Cobra will be available as either a coupe or convertible, featuring unique 17x9-inch Dark Argent “anniversary” wheels exposing red painted brake calipers. It will also sport red leather seating surfaces, special “carbon fiber” look interior trim, and SVT 10th Anniversary commemorative badging on the floor mats and rear decklid.
SVT will build a total of just 2,003 units of this special Anniversary Cobra, available in three different exterior colors: Torch Red, Black Clearcoat, and Silver Metallic. Production is to begin in summer, 2003. For pricing or more information, contact you local Ford SVT dealer (or call 1-800-FORD-SVT).
“Our SVT Mustang Cobra owners are some of the most loyal customers anywhere, and we are proud to share this anniversary milestone with them,” said Tom Scarpello, Ford SVT marketing and sales manager. “The Cobra name has been synonymous with Ford performance for 40 years – and with SVT for the last 10 years. We are proud to carry the torch for this performance icon.”
I really like those rims!
