I ran a King Cobra in my old 5.0, great clutch for the money. The Centerforce I have not had any personal experiences with it, but from the research I did before I bought my SPEC stage 2 for my Cobra, there are a ton of people who have had Centerforces come apart on them. I've seen some pics of Centerforces coming apart. Come to think of it, first time bitemark46 had his car at the track with his Centerforce, it started to slip and burn the clutch disc on his burnout. Last time I talked to him he was talking about getting a SPEC clutch also. Honestly I don't think I will ever buy another clutch product that isn't a SPEC product. Everyone who has bought a SPEC for their Mustang that I know has never said anything negative about it.
Yeah it started to slip but it wasn't all on the clutch. I try to do a dry burnout at 3500 with my torqueless monster. But it has held about half a dozen passes launching at 7k on slicks. But I think I'll probably go with a Spec just only cause they make a kit(stage 3) that is carbon fiber to it'll grip harder than a organic clutch.
Scott, 500hp car get either a kelvar or carbon fiber disk. The pressure plates are still made out of the same material. Well come to think of it since u don't come out hard anyways get a zoom clutch! It'll work for 2000rpm launches!
