We detail hundreds of cars a month. DIYer should go to Walmart, buy a new plastic 3 gallon bucket, the best wool wash mit they have, the Blue Corral wash/wax soap (blue in color, one gallon), and "The Absorber" chamois (sold in a plastic tube, always wring it out good but don't dry it and stick it back in the tube). Always keep a seperate sponge/rag strictly for the wheels/wells/lowest panels and only use the wash stuff for the car (don't use the bucket for mopping or anything). ALWAYS power rinse the car off good before washing (if you have access to even a cheapee pressure washer to touchlessly remove as much of the dust as possible to avoid scratching). Wash with plenty of the soap in the shade, then rinse back off thoroughly. Chamois dry completely (again, use seperate towels for the wheels-not the body chamois). Good luck!!!
