Well, I wouldn't waste time doing the intake. The stock one, with a little mod time, works just fine. If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't have bought mine.

A turbo-back exhaust with up-pipe will give him some nice noticable gains, but be ready to pay a bit more then you would for a Camaro or Mustang . That sould be a nice start for him.
