Default Anemic acceleration trouble in a Versa

Hello, not sure if anyone can help with this but I figured its worth a shot. My Mom drives a Nissan Versa, and the accelleration on this thing is just dismal. Now I know its a tiny little four banger under the hood, but the go-juice is so lacking that I honestly thing something might be wrong with the car.

I took it out for a test drive tonight, and even though Im used to my Z, this thing just seemed like it wasnt running right. There was very little perceivable difference between launching from a standstill at 30-40% thottle or wide open throttle.

Heres wherethings get tricky though: It uses one of those drive by wire systems for the accelerator, and Im not sure how to verify that thing is working correctly.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what could be causing this, please let me know.
