Mine was a '82 Subaru GL Wagon. Dunno anymore how many miles, was approaching 100,000 when I got it. Speedometer didn't work so I never knew my speed. Was a stick, so I had to learn to drive a 5 speed. Sooo glad I did.
I miss it. It was great for drive-in movies. If we didn't have a drive-in theater 5 miles from my house, I probably wouldn't miss it as much.
Sold it to my girlfriend's dad for $500. Wasn't passing emissions at the time either. He got it fixed and drive it another 2 years until the clutch cable went out. Had it towed off.
I learned that an older car can look good with a good wash and wax. Learned to change the oil, tires, spark plugs, all the regular maintenance, on that car.
And I got $5 for taking someone home in it! (;
