yeah, seems like a lot to me also. i know using the thicker stuff will help keep the whole thing from warping from the heat, but all i do is run tacks all around, kinda like tightening a tire down. then add more till i know that bitch wont flex, then burn her in. but im not trying to tell you how to do anything at all, ive seen your work and its great man, you are doing a good job.

but i know for a fact ive seen it with my own eyes, 3/4" steel with their water jet and only a fraction of a degree of taper, it was incredible. i could barely register anything on my caliper


but with 1/2", you will def have to have them waterjetted. i think they only go up to 1/4" with the laser.

they do top notch work. i had them cut a shit ton of stuff for our formula and baja this year. everything from tabs, brake rotors, ARB mounts, steering rack mounts, swing arm etc
