i would say start off with a 350 grit and sand it down then work your way up, 400 800 1000 2000 3000, then use some nice metal polishing compound,

btw i am no expert, so this is just what i have heard....it would be similar to polsihing wheels, so if u can find a write up on that, you can apply it to this..
