It really depends. If you are running a high compresion engine or using any power adders 93 octane is a must. I personally will detonate if I use anything lower than 93. If you are running stock compression on an ex with stock timing 87 will be just fine. If you want to tune it a little and bump your ign. timing then you will have to run 89 or 93.
