the car drives just fine, a little funny idle. now, would i have to change the entire distributor or can i pull it appart and swap it out for another sensor from an old distributor?

what sensor in the distributor is it? i can see one wtih 3or4 plugs in it, then the magnet pickup, thats all i can see with out taking it apart.
