Now that the paint has cured its just as durable as powdercoating. The best part is that I have a can of black and red paint in the garage (or can run down to home depot for replacements) for touch ups if they ever get fucked up.
The only down side is that the paint does not fully cure for almost a week and is easily damaged when its still soft.
I had the tires mounted a day after I finished painting them, and it fucked my red lips up pretty bad.
It was no big deal since I just busted out the sandpaper and brush and fixed that shit right up.
Since they have cured they have taken some hard cone hits and one fell on its face in the garage with no damage at all. The red paint is now so hard I know a tire change will not be as destructive the next time around.
Once my street rims are shot and I have the time I will probably do the same thing to them too.
