I had a new Durango when they first came out in 98, it was nice because of the size and the number of people you could carry, but the rear air conditioning system we constantly had problems leaks, not working, etc...the other negative that I notice was the breaking sucked, it took a good amount of length to stop very heavy vehicle and seemed like the anti-lock breaks sucked. I eventually traded it for a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and it didn't even make it to 90K miles before I started having one problem after another, within a year I spent about $3,000 in repairs including the air conditioning, water pump, fuel pump, etc.. I love the way the Dodge vehicles look and feel but I have to say from my experience they suck in reliability. Needless to say I traded the Ram for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma.
I have to say from my experience my best pick for reliability has been Toyota #1 and Ford #2.
Just my 3 cents, good luck with whatever you get.
