im all about a B-series swap, but considering your situation, and the fact that you might not even have more than $1k, you should DEFINATELY N/A build the D.
use all OE honda parts (to cut cost) for the longblock itself, and save a little for cam, maybe a FPR, IHE, and a tune...
Y7 longblock + A6/A1 pistons + Y8/Z6 head + Y8/Z6 trans = fun cheap project.
that way, you get the experience of building a motor, you get drastically increased compression (which means decently quick), 100% dead reliable, and WAY more fun than anything else for the money...
then, if u had $2k, you got some suspension money and wheel money left over
