As I was headed home tonight I learned something new about a twisty road often taken by local bikers. I was in my car tonight and thankful as hell that I wasn't on the bike.
On LAKE CRENSHAW ROAD (near the Hess gas station on Hwy 41), they've added LARGE speed tables. Actually, I'm not sure if they're bumps or tables since I didn't even make it far enough to see them. All I know is that there weren't speed bumps there last night...but as it turns out, they were added to the road TODAY.
Well I didn't get far enough to see the speed-bumps because all I could see were emergency vehicle lights ahead of me...it was so bad that they wouldn't even let us pass. They were telling people to turn around and take a different way. There were so many lights that it seemed like someone might have died. My first thought was that a biker was involved (thinking that maybe a biker had trouble negotiating a turn)...well when I called my mom and she told me about the speed tables, I thought for SURE that a bike had come in there at a high speed without knowledge of the speed tables.
The purpose of this post is to inform you fellow riders about this road. If you've heard of it, then BEWARE. The neighbors bitched enough about heavy traffic/people speeding and they got what they wanted. I'm sure more people will have accidents because of these...all we can do is hope that it
doesn't happen. Bikers are at the highest risk in my opinion...especially those who travel that road all of the time. Also, I never found out if a bike was involved. When I called to find out the report, all I was told was that it was a 2 vehicle wreck -which means that no motorcycle was involved--but don't quote me.
PS: The wreck occured at the same place where I dropped my bike when the bee stung my neck. Not that it's relevant or anything...just ironic
