Alignment questions
Firstly, I'd like to know where you'd recommend getting an alignment in the Tampa/Temple Terrace area. It won't be to stock specs and I do have aftermarket camber adjustment bolts up front they have to deal with. I found this list in Gen Car Chat:
Fred Cox Automotive & Alignment
Will align lowered cars!
(813) 961-5827
13950 N Florida Ave
Tampa, FL 33613
Tire Kingdom at Hwy 301 and 60
813-623-3538
Cars and Concepts
813-348-6183
711 N Manhattan Ave
Tampa, FL 33614-6921
But in a thread just posted today I found that C&C charged 130 dollars for an alignment. That's too far outside my price range- I can only really afford 100 dollars or less. Also, that same thread warned never to go to a Tire Kingdom, so that leaves me with one random shop on Florida I've never heard of. I'm doing some searches but any suggestions are welcome.
Secondly, what do you think of these alignment specs? I know it's very car specific, but there aren't great 1G DSM handling resources out there so I want to make sure I haven't come up with something wacky. Tires are 225/50/16 Hankook R-S2s on 16x8 rx-7 wheels. Full suspension and car setup is in my TRGarage.
Front Camber: -1.5 to -2.0 degrees- whatever the largest balanced number they can get is. I have camber bolts that will do up to -2.0 and it's been recommended that I run at least -1.5 degrees.
Front Caster- nonadjustable
Front Toe- -1/32" (1/32" toe out)
Rear Camber- As close to -1.0 degrees as possible with stock adjustment
Rear Toe- +1/16" (1/16" toe in)
These are compromise settings I've tried to direct toward a mix of tire life, high speed stability, handling and ability to launch at the drag strip. I'm just doing my first autox event at the upcoming school event, so right now it's not about ultimate grip, it's about keeping the tires alive through as many events as possible so I can afford to run as many events as possible while not compromising the other things I do with the car, ie high-speed street runs, running at the drag strip, daily driving, etc.
