I loved my hondas because even after a motor swap and turbo (with all the right stuff, hondata/blitz sbc boost controller) I still got 30mpg and was pushing about 230hp on a 2000lb car. Was it the fastest.....NO, was it faster than most oem cars, probably. was it faster than 95% of other hondas....well since 95 % of other hondas have cut springs and fart cans for a total 100hp (imagined) gain, then yes. I wasn't racing it around and zipping through traffic like a jackass. while I think that as an all around car the hondas are some of the best, I would still sit back and admire any car that had good work done to it.
The down side to having a 1.6ltr with alot of performace mods is that I spent almost every weekend tweeking something, the A/F ratio, fuel maps, playing with plug gap, etc. Any time I went anywhere I was watching about 6 different gauges to make sure that everything was within limits, and that got old real quick.
I realized that what I really wanted was a car that had power and TQ in a stock setup, and therefore wouldn't need to be worked on every weekend. Of course I miss the fuel economy, but whenever I start to complain about gas mileage I just floor it in second and the sound of the tires breaking loose cheers me up quick. I didn't believe it until I drove it, but there really is no replacement for displacement. V-8 bowtie FTMFW!
