Please explain why you would not remove material from the rod. It seems like more hassle to machine from the small are inside the piston than from the end of the exposed rod. It shouldn't matter about weight because after the machining the rotating assembly must be balanced, both of which the pistons and rods are part of.

Plus I have not had good luck with Eiseles. And know other who will not take their business there.
