What I understand from that is Ecutek is feeling the pinch of opensource "Free" tools that alot of tuners are discovering do the same damn thing that ecutek does.
Connecting to, and modifying an ECU is no longer a black box dark art where by both the tuners and the car owners are at the mercy of companies like Ecutek.
People are discovering that all Ecutek is is a gateway into the ECU and the real magic is done by the tuner, NOT the ecutek software. They are worried and so they should be.
Its all in the tuner, always has been and in my mind, I'd pay a little more for a GREAT tuner who uses OpenECU software to connect to my car than an average tuner who uses Ecutek ... the magic comes from the tuner not the software he uses to connect, same as the magic comes from the mechanic, not the tools he uses.
I honestly dont think Ecutek will be missed if they take their toys and go sulk in the UK, the cats out of the bag now and in 12 months time the openecu software will be more than mature enough to handle anything ecutek could do, in fact it already can it just needs the tuners, the real magicians, to get more involved with it, and more used to it.
