you are right it doesn't require a medical degree to be able to wetsand however you still might want to let someone experienced do it. I have 4+ years of professional detailing experience and I wont wet sand my headlights.
Wet sanding a cars paint job is easy because you can clearly see how much you are sanding off. it is more difficult to see on a clear piece of plastic. you might take more off one side than the other and have high and low spots.

to wetsand all you need is to find some 1500 grit sand paper and some soap and water. But if you don't have a high speed buffer don't even think about it.
