Here is a piece of advice for EVERYONE on this forum. If you run into a situation similar to this where the shop did work that led to some type of "casualty," I can almost 100% gurantee that every large shop/dealership will have "casualty insurance" and you can make a claim against them.
All you need to do is ask for their insurance information and file a claim with their carrier. Believe me, they do not want you to do this and will go ape shit! If they refuse to give you the insurance info, then get a lawyer, but in all honesty, I doubt a lawyer will get involved unless it involves bodily injury, because that is where the money is at for lawyers, not property damage claims.
FYI - don't put up with shops like this because they will continue to do the same thing until people put them in check by either busting their ass for their negligence or not doing business with them anymore and putting them out of business.
