Are you talking about a single layer aftermarket gasket like the Mugen or only runnning one layer of the stock gasket?
If you run the single layer stock gasket you need to use copper spray and your chances of blowing it will increse. The good news is you'll have the other two layers to replace it with when it blows.
BTW I have only run the two layer job on my car, I don't think the added compression of the one layer justifies the pain in the ass of blowing a head gasket. I'd just run the two layer stock gasket setup and take an extra .005 off the head.
