Those few 'MINOR' things can equate to HUGE HEADACHES when it comes to rebuilding your motor. Trust me. I can't remember the exact problems we had but I had an s14 engine I was going to rebuild but the guy I bought it from needed it back because the s13 engine he was going to build had some minor differences in timing shit and what not that the machine shop was unable to overcome when mating the s13 block with his old s14 components.
My advice with a KA-T. Use a stock motor, blow it up and then replace it with a used KA. The money that you could spend on a rebuild, you could buy you 2 or 3 used KA. Even with a rebuilt KA sometimes it still blow up, but thats my opinion.
That is very poor advice. I say buy an s13 for $500 and drive till it craps out, then just buy another. /sarcasm
ok my ka is on its last leg, i really need to rebuild it, just wanna know if any of you guys know of any good rebuild kits. im planning on goin ka-t. what pistons would be best to use? cams? and should i get it bored and if so how much. thanks in advance!!
Who is building the engine? you? IF you havn't selected a machine shop to do your build for you yet I'd recommend highly Engine Labs, they've done quite a few KA's around here. Their facility is top notch. Also check out XAT Racing. They too build some amazing motors. I'm not familiar with the AMS kit but I would check it out and also check with XAT Racing and see what they recommend. Most of the mechanics up their have been building/racing these cars since before we knew Nissan's could go fast.
BTW: scope out ka-t.org and browse around and look and different setups people are running. You'll get a good idea of what is involved what the power you are shooting for.
