I think Leonard has picked up some sort of anti-powdercoating wives tale ffrom who knows where.

The temp any aluminum object will see during powercoating is a fraction of the temps that even the shittiest aluminum can withstand and were required to manufacture the object in the first place.

The temps used are only hot enough to melt the plastic power that is used. Temperatures that could damage aluminum would incinerate any resin based power coating.
