you have air in your lines. you need to un ghetto rig all the crap you did, and bleed the system correctly and work from there. dont compound your problem with band aids.
my lines can have no air in them and still get to hot... i was thinking about getting the electric water pump soon. i know how to open the two air release valves so there is no air in the lines... my radiator cap is new... water pump is about a year old now.. and as far as i know the radiator itself has never been touched... the only ghetto i have rigged up now the fan turned on all the time which isnt any thing that can hurt the cooling of the engine. fan cld go bad sooner.. thats all. i didnt know thermostats were only about 50 bucks. i think ill go pick one up....
