yea, like i said in my last post, i see the point you are making.
however, you are assuming a huge turbo, running at inefficiently low boost. on a maxed out tiny turbo, there will be a negligibly small amount of lag, and the turbo car would have an advantage.
if you are assuming there is a lot of lag, like u keep saying, then you have to assume the turbo is WAY oversized, cuz you would have the same power from a N/A car with the same motor. and, of course, a car running a horribly inefficient turbo setup is not going to be that fast.
as for your comment about "tq doesnt always win races" with the 4 vs. 8 cylinder stuff, i think you are leaving out the effective torque provided by short gearing, that many of the smaller displacement cars have. also, cars with bigger motors have much more mass and therefore, need more torque just to be even.
