We're going to start banning if I have to clean up more threads like I just did. Keep the name calling out of it and just make a remark. You all are acting like a bunch of sniveling children.
With that said, the rod modification is totally viable. By removing material so that the surface is level, any scratches/gouges that could become stress risers are eliminated. With that said however, I would hope that the author of this post is familiar with the die grinder and can properly use it as well as selecting the proper grit matrix.
