personaly i think it is a waste of time but the theory is sound. If you just shotpeened them you'd be better off. I've also always shaved the piston instead of the rod when installing itr or ctr pistons and I've never had any problems. If any stress risers were going to be introduced it'd be where the rod was shaved.
