I have watched Top Fuel dragsters and Top Fuel funny cars make double passes in person at night. Standing on the track side, you have to really cover your ears, each car produces around 8,000 horsepower...double that and you have 16,000 horsepower. It is extremely hard to describe that.... the noise will make your ears hurt even when covered. You can also feel it in your body, it's the weirdest feeling. Maybe close to standing behind a jumbo jet at takeoff. You can feel the heat from the exaust and if it's night time, you can really see the flames shoot out about 10 feet high from each side of the vehicle. They go from a dead stop to over 300 miles per hour in 1320 feet in less than 5 seconds. Mid to low 4's.... That kind of performance motorsport wise in unmatched anywhere. They are simply the baddest of all internal combustion engines on the planet. The guys who pilot those cars are sick MF's. They get detached retinas occasionally because of the initial G-forces at launch. They stay coherent enough to actually drive the thing if it starts to do crazy shit.... ever watch a top fuel funny car? They can get as sideways as drifters and going MUCH much quicker....

It is unbelievable to watch in person..... now, on t.v. it is boring. I am not a fan of watching drag racing on t.v. at all.

So, while it may be boring to watch on t.v., do yourself one favor in life and go check it out in person sometime... you'll change your tune.

I might also change my opinion on F1 racing if I was to ever go to a real event in person. But since I never have, my opinion is what it is.

Either way, we all like different stuff....
