WRONG!!! What proof do you have about Hillsborough Auto Mart? I know for a fact that they buy the cars from the same place that ALL of the other dealers around do. sarasota ford, brandon ford, bill currie, and TONS of other dealers go to these auctions and buy/sell there. most of the vehicles are lease turn ins. some are trade ins.
For example, Greater Tampa Bay Auto Auction. Dan and Ernie go there and when they find mustangs or beemers and such they check them out the best they can in the short time they have and buy them or they don't. Every time I personally have been there (and not with them, I went as a buyer for my Grandfather) they never looked at a car and said "HEY!!! this one looks like it was in a flood!! I bet we can get it cheap and sucker someone on it".
Nope. Just as Will stated he has purchased several cars from there. That is how they make their money, off of repeat buyers. They do not have the advertising budget to keep getting new customers.
I am in no way shape or form related to them nor have I ever bought a vehicle from them. I do however take offense when statements are made that are completely off base. They are in a business where there are going to be problems with cars every now and then, but they do not intentionally purchase cars that are problems or insurance claims.
Sorry. Used car lots are in business to do one thing, and one thing only: MAKE MONEY! Just because they may have accidently overlooked some flood damage on a car they purchased at the auction, it does not mean they won't try to sell it anyways. Shit, they could have at least shot those calipers with some black spray paint before they put it on the lot...as is, those brakes and suspension pieces looked quite unattractive.
