ok so im riding and the temp needle keeps going from 1/3 up to 2/3's then back down and up slowly. after it goes up and down a few times it goes up to about 2/3's slowly then rockets up to overheat(on the guage)

because my fans are working i go to the t-stat first. i seems fine but then who can tell by looking?

i put it back together with the suspect t-stat. i then drive to work this morning and no issue.

ijm thinking its the t-stat because it stopped happening after i messed with it.

any ideas. ive already thought of the pump and a clog in the radiator

but what do you guys think?
