Type R oil pump on B16A questions
Doing my buildup and installed my type r oil pump a few days ago.
I just finished up and installed the stock (B16A) bottom plastic timing belt cover and it does not fully cover the timing belt on the bottom. If you notice in the attached pics I have the stock B16A oil pump on the right and the new oil pump installed on the block. The stock oil pump has extended edge that meets the plastic cover to fully encase the timing belt/gear at the bottom. On the type r pump, this edge is too far out and a different shape - does not match up, so there is some open space around the edges (see pic).
Question is.. Do I need to purchase a lower plastic timing belt cover from a type r? And still use my B16A top one - will it even work? I know the B18 block is taller, maybe the bolts won't even match up? Do I even need it to completely cover it?
Thanks
