Dave (our in house tubo Ford guy ) will correct me if I am wrong but I think it is basically the same motor that is in the SVO Mustangs.
Correct! oh, wait....what year?
The SVO had a better computer...
If your talking about an 87 or 88, the SVO had the same block, air meter, E-6 and the things I said above, but a bigger turbo.
If your talking about an 83-86, the TC, had the same turbo, block and intakes.
The SVO has the BIG VAM(air meter) like the 87-88 TC's.
Mine has 228,xxx original nonrebuilt miles and I'm still running 18 PSI of boost! These motors are VERY STRONG as long as they don't get too hot.
The stock block, rods & pistons will hold around 350 HP!
If it looks good and runs good, it's worth the money. They can be tempermental, but if you talk to the right guys, you can get any problem solved and you can get more HP per dollar than you can with something else!
Good luck
