Ok. The car is an 86 turisom.. FWD... When I was taking off the lug nuts the stud broke in half. No big deal.. I got the brake caliper hanging off to the side and the rotor off of the spindle.. Now I got the cotterpin out but I have a 1 1/4" nut to take off. I can see the studs and the back of the studs but can't take the plate off.

I am afraid that if I do take the nut off (spindle nut) that the CV axle and bearings will be loose. Is this true?

What will most likely happen if I take that nut off?
