Look at it as a sliding scale, and you are trying to find that sweet happy medium.
Dished Piston: Forced Induction
Flat Top Piston: Street N/A, depending on engine design, some forced induction VERY high octane builds
Domed Piston: All out N/A Monster
Dont take this to heart. Most if not all higher end motors--Nascar, Stock, F1, IRL. All N/A, none have a domed piston. A dome intrudes with proper flame-front propogation. Reverse dome or dish in the center with LARGE quench area is the trend.
This article had some good basics but lacked some important info. For instance, ive seen the cam grind on the piston make 30 hp, and I run all my rings with double the gap recommended

Stay away from gapless.
