No, no, no....a race is a race is a race. If somebody forgets to take the car out of park, it's a race and he lost. I've seen cars stage too deep at the track and have to back up to get to the starting line. They have left the car in reverse and started that way. Guess what...the other guy got the win light and the guy in reverse didn't get do overs. Saying that one or both cars weren't running at their optimum doesn't mean shit. Whoever lost, lost. Since you drive a Neon, I would think you would understand that. If you race somebody and they bury your ass, do you get off the hook by saying, "It wasn't a race because I was driving my Neon and you were driving your Craftsman 42" riding mower. I didn't have a chance"? No, I don't think so.
