$250 is a good price for a auto tranny. $100-$200 you'll be lucky if its even in good condition.
Copher's cost $2.00 to get in. I'm about 5 or so minutes away. By the time you find a 1g with a automatic transmission then go through the hassle of pulling it and paying for it then taking it home. Pulling your transmission off then putting the one you pulled at Copher's to then find out when test driving it... its worst then your original transmission.
Keep in mind. Most 1gs 2.0 DOHC N/T that end up at Cophers is primarily because the timing belt snapped or the transmission gave way. Some here or there are for other mechanical reasons and/or accident. Just note that you have a 50/50 chance in pulling a good or somewhat good transmission.
I've had 3 of my cars end up at Cophers. One being that I bent a rod, another being that the transmission wouldn't go into any gears, and the last one timing belt jumped about 5 teeth and caused some serious engine damage. Not all cars that end up there are mechanically sound.
Its not my car so just giving you advice.
