Yea, the SR20 is a great foundation, especially for turbocharging. I think the weakest point in the motor is the rod bearings, so be sure you keep plenty of oil in that sucker. SR20forum has a ton of info you can read up on. You can piece together a good amount of the stuff (manifold, turbo, injectors, etc) from OEM parts as well, which makes things much cheaper and much easier to find. Good luck
