Fatal accident on U.S. 19 and Alderman Road

One person is dead and three are in serious condition after a fatal accident occurred Tuesday morning on U.S. 19 and Alderman Road.

Trooper Larry Coggins said two people were racing side by side at speeds in excess of 100 miles. They reached an intersection near U.S. and Alderman where one of the cars hit an SUV and flipped four or five times ejecting the driver. Another vehicle had its roof completely sheared off.

FHP said people were trapped in one of the vehicles, and there were a number of another vehicles involved in the accident.

Traffic on northbound 19 is closed. Motorists should use McMullen Booth Road or Belcher Road on the other side of Alderman.
