if you really wanna get technical, the "BEST" thing is low temp grease, it fills the ridges and builds up compression like a mother f-er. oil would work, but maybe a milkshake from McDonalds would work the same too. i wouldn't reccamend it. read into builders info and they will tell you, as i will having worked for isc racing services here in winter haven where we build nothing but scca miata and rx7's, use atf when dealing with a motor thats been sitting or freshly rebuilt with low temp grease as the "goop" for side seal installation.
