Fatangel has the right idea, but theres alot more than just dremeling it out if you dont want it to look like a$$ hole. The dremel marks will need to be filled with body filler. spot putty exct. The pillar is not solid it has a indentation at the bottom. I would take it off and look at it, mock up what you need to do before diving in.

On another note 3 pink "I" badges were stolen off my grille before my custom white one. This is how I stopped the little fuckers, remove badge and drill about 10 small holes in the plastic directly where the badge sits. sand down the back side of the new badge just enough to where it feels scuffed. Use short hair fiberglass gently working it down inside the small holes before you incert the badge into the hole. They tried to get the white one and gave up. just a thought
