I was involved in a Hit and Run on monday on Cross Creek Blvd, I want to start out by saying that I was not badly injured. a little bit of road rash on my right knee, sprained ankle, and a couple brused ribs.
I was riding down Cross Creek near the fire station headding home(towards morris bridge rd.) where i first encountered the driver that caused the wreck. He was driving a 95-97 WHITE FORD EXPLORER.I was in the right lane, he was in the left lane next to me.It came time for me to merge over into the left lane(Cross Creek goes from a 4 lane road to a 2 lane road) so i got my speed up and jumped infront of him. then traffic started to slow down, so i put by brakes on. he started to get on my ass. I flashed my brake lights, reved up the motor a little to get his awareness. he kept getting closer. i tapped my brakes some more and he didnt like it. We come to a stop light he cuts a lane a nd pulls up next to me. the guy looked MIDDLE EASTERN BETWEEN THE AGE OF 35 AND 45. he started yelling and screaming saing hes gonna get out of his car and kick my ass....blah blah blah. i didnt say anything to him just looked him dead in the eye the light goes green and he cuts in fromt of me driving like a bat out of hell. im about 3 to 4 car lengths behind him. there is no traffic infront of him. he slams his brakes taking the car to almost a dead stop. i apply my brakes, down shift. but it wasnt enough the WHITE EXPLORER was getting closer and closer.i had 2 options, hit the back of the WHITE EXPLORER and have searious injury to my self and the bike, or lay her down and pray the best. there was oncomming traffic and some cars beind me. i chose to lay the down.when me and the bike hit the ground our speed was at 35-40mph. Thank god i had my gear on(helment, armored jacket, and armored gloves). The impact was bone crushing. i slid to a stop about 20-30 feet down the road. The guy in the WHITE EXPLORER comes to a stop, lookes back, sees my on the ground not moving and he speeds off. im so lucky i didnt get run over by any cars when i went down. someone in a silver 300M stopped to make sure i was okay. i didnt get up till about 30 seconds after he walked up. He called 911 and had the cops and an ambulance come out.by the time the cops showed up i was on my feet limping aroud. a paramedic checked me out to make sure i was okay. i filed a report with the cops gave a description of the car and what the guy looked like. the only thing i couldnt remember was the tag number. the cops said the will do there best to find him and if i see him again take down his tag and call him right away.
I am very greatfull that i walked away from this. this could have been so much worse. I owe my life and safety to my helment, jacket, gloves, and the MRA Staff that tought me how to ride and what to do in situations like that.
I will ride again but i dont know when that will be. i have to fix the bike and recover from my injurys.
Ride Safe Everyone and WEAR YOUR GEAR!!
