high range audiowaves are directional, which is why they are up top directed towards you, with it at your feet, there are no ears on your feet so it gets lost, it has nothing to do with it being close to the subwoofer
i would actually love to have a sub there because i think it would give you better sound quality, instead of it being lost through the trunk
