I'm not doubting your shop at all.. I'm saying that for random shop X that doesn't do a whole lot of TIG or aluminum work, that seems like a fair price. It is purely theory and I'm basing this off shops in an entirely different area of the country. I bet you'd have a hard time finding someone in your area who repairs combines on a regular basis.
What you charge is your business, and everyone appreciates helping your forum buddies out a little bit. "Hellified cheap" in this instance was a good thing. Most places around here wouldn't do it for that cheap, unless it was a personal friend. Someone asking about pricing on a forum boards has the right to hear a discussion about it, and reasoning. I'm glad you're cheaper, and a well set up certified shop - I just wanted to point out that $40 wasn't so far off the deep end that you seem to think.
I appreciate the biting sarcasm though.
