There is a guy in California who has the fastest 1/4 mile time now, you probably saw jmweb's time in a phoenix yellow m3 in miami which got a time of 11.98, which was recenly beat with 11.972 by the california guy tazam3. Both times could be a lot better -- jmweb's car was SMG which is terrible for launching at the drag strip, and tazam3's car was run at a poor track 2700ft above sea level. Both cars have the yet-to-be-released active stage III SC kit.
An ace driver in stock m3 can get into the high 12s, so those times can definetally get better. For the most part though it is a low-13 second car.
For the money it takes to SC the e46 m3 you could put together a separate car (or two) that would spank it in the 1/4. For the money I paid for my car I could have put together a fleet of cars that would own it so don't worry, there are probably no bruised egos on the BMW owner's part unless he made a mistake buying a new M3 thinking it was a fast car

wow, 11.9s being the quickest for the newer M3s, i would have never expected that. is there something holding them back? is there just no market for the newer M3? that would mean i really dont have to worry when running any new M3 at all. i dont think an ego was hurt during the run, he definately has a beautiful car. id drive one any day
