Well, in "real" race cars, the pedals are usually quite small and quite close together, so narrow is good.

It depends on how you heel-toe. If you actually use the ball of your foot on the edge of the brake, and use your heel to blip the throttle, then the width shouldn't matter much. I usually end up using the ball of my foot on the brake, and mashing the gas with the outside of my foot, so for me it's helpful to have a tread with a straight outer edge instead of a cut-in side like those...

It all depends on your pedals and your driving style.
