it's a dead spot in the motor, yes you can tap it with a hammer or something and break it loose. the switches can do the same thing. once you get it going run your window up and down several times to try to work out the dead spot, maybe even some dielectric grease in the gear might help. Ultimately, you'll need a new window motor.
