Not quite. The physics of such large objects are not the same as say, shooting a lemon with a .22. It wouldnt blow up into pieces it would certain however dramaticly change the rotation of the earth and likely gouge out a nice piece of the planet.

This looks like a theory thats been going around on how not only the moon was formed, but also how the pacific ocean was formed.

By the way the title is misleading. Thats not an asteroid, its a planetoid. Maybe even large enough to be concidered a moon itself.
