When you've got a non-functioning AC system, and it will cost you a few hundred bucks to purchase the parts to get it functioning again, and you don't even really like using the AC in the first place, those two reasons are more than enough to go through the PITA job of pulling it all out.
This is another reason why I love my civic, the a/c core is beside my radiator and not infront of it so airflow isn't an issue. I did pull the ac from my crx though, but that was because the fucker that did the swap was a hack and fucked it up, had it been my choice I would have kept it. I normally don't mind the heat, but after working out in the sun all day the drive home is nice with the a/c on.
