its the same thing in the car world. i have plenty of buddys with integras, i got a couple of buddys that cant touch me in a 1/4, i can pull on some of there GSRs and i have a couple of buddys breaking into mid to high 14's with bolt ons,and suspension in there non-vtec integras.
just like in reviews, most of the 600cc bikes break into the 10'. you dont see some joe blow first time out there making the same times???

that's why i said add you to the list of smart people that understand the rr loseing the race was more about the two guys riding them than one bike being better than the other.
