a PT Cruiser is basically a wagon version of the 2nd gen Neon. A good bit of componentry from the B pillar foward are interchangeable and if not very similar not to mention they ride on the same platform. The A853/A855 engine family was designed to be used in the Mexican variants of the cloud cars (Stratus,Cirrus and Sebring) aswell as the PT Cruiser/variants and ultimately a turbo neon...the SRT4. Of the many cars with the 2.4 turbo the PT Cruiser serves up the least robust transmission options...a getrag 5 speed and a parts bin 4 speed auto stick. Due to this the PT Cruiser was only capable of withstanding Stage 1 duties and Mopar extensively tested Stage 2 with not much success plus they claimed there wasnt much demand for this kit in the PT world. The T850 transmission used in the SRT4 is rated at 350 ft. lb of torque but its not certain if thats input or output...regardless there are many 500-600+ whp cars running strong with the stock unit and upgraded clutch. However thats not to say there arent fast PT Turbos out there....i know AGP built their own that put down 400+whp on the stock getrag 5 speed....how long will the tranny last is a good question but im sure if it goes they'll find a way to stuff an srt tranny in there
